Holland with Diane King 2019
During Diane’s week in Holland, we have a slightly different agenda and location than during Sonia’s week. We will be focussing on the intriguing and spellbinding southern Holland and will include days out to the unspoiled Renaissance town of Delft which will include the Vermeer Centre museum.
Often called ‘little Amsterdam, Haarlem is just as beautiful but without the crowds so perfect for sketching. We may even have time for a quick visit to Jopenkerk, a brewery housed in a converted fourteenth-century cathedral.
Of course, a visit to Holland would not be complete without a trip to Kinderdijk to sketch at least one of the nineteen iconic eighteenth-century windmills. Or the gothic area of The Hague which will also be on our list of sketching adventures for the holiday and a must to pay homage to M. C. Escher.
