Southern Portugal with Diane King 2019
Following our popular trip to Lisbon in 2017, we have decided to revisit Portugal but this time staying further South of the country. near to Faro.
The alluring coast of the Algarve has always been a popular destination for many travellers because of its breathtaking cliffs, golden beaches, scalloped bays and sandy islands.
Located on the Atlantic Ocean much of the nation’s architecture dates to the 1500s–1800s, when Portugal had a powerful maritime empire. The scenic city of Faro with its old walled town and historic monuments are a testament to the Moorish influence on the city.
During the week we will also visit Tavira, one of the loveliest towns in the eastern Algarve and Silves which offers an intriguing glimpse into Portugal’s cultural past.
