Sonia Hawes lived and worked for many years in Northamptonshire but now lives in beautiful North Wales where she enjoys the landscape, wildlife and coastal painting. She belongs to a regular Life drawing group and is a member of the North Wales Urban Sketchers. A professional associate member of the Society for All Artists Sonia is a regular contributor to their publication, ‘Paint’ and has sketched around the world in Europe, Africa, China, India, South America, the Arctic and Antarctica. She runs classes and workshops privately and for local authorities and other agencies including art societies and loves sharing her passion for painting and drawing. She will also be tutoring for the Clwydian Art Society Summer School in Snowdonia in the summer of 2016.
Sonia’s courses are suitable for complete beginners and more experienced students, she aims to give confidence and build on existing skills as well as developing new ones. Permission to play is what she gives her students and, although there is group work she tries to tailor the week to the needs of individuals. Students of all abilities should go home with sketches, photographs and small paintings as resources for further work at home having enjoyed a fun and stimulating holiday. This year the UK courses will include simple sketch bookmaking and the option of trying Sculpture canvas as well as working in acrylics and mixed media in the studio sessions.
Sonia is also available by email for help before and after the course and has a blog you might like to follow
