Internationally exhibited artist Jon Doran makes paintings with classical themes such as still life, landscape and portraiture, yet explores these in a digitally influenced and fragmented approach to painting. His studio is based at the Grays Wharf, Penryn.

Jon is interested in taking classical subjects of still life, portraiture and figures in landscape and rearticulating them through a digitally influenced and fragmented approach to painting. His landscapes focus on different subjects with emotionally charged atmospheres. Figures in woodlands, the stillness of the water and the majesty of the Cornish coastline. He encourages the eye to believe in the play of light on form to see a subject and then to break it down and simply see the brushstrokes of paint.

Jon graduated from Falmouth School of Art in 2014.
