Maggie Cochran is a landscape painter who likes to work in a slightly abstracted fashion while still retaining a sense of place. Capturing light and a sense of the fragility and transience of our natural landscape is important to her.

She has come to realise that her painting is all about capturing the feeling of being in a landscape that makes her feel alive. Painting is a way to record how she feels sitting in a landscape full of sound, colour and light. It forces her to really look and absorb the memory and as a consequence, her work captures her experience of being in that landscape.

Much of Maggie’s work is held in private collections both in the UK and overseas. She has been brought to the forefront of landscape painting by being shortlisted for Artists and Illustrators Artist of the Year in 2018, winning Cornwall Life Landscape Painter of the Year in 2016 and being placed as a finalist in Devon Life Landscape Artist of the Year 2017

Maggie is a member of the Visual Artists Association, an associate member of the Penwith Gallery, St Ives and a member of St Ives Arts Club. She graduated with a 2:1 Hons in Fine Art from Chichester University in 2017 and has recently completed the one-year Porthmeor Programme in St Ives. Maggie now works out of her studio in the Terrace Studios, Penryn.

Maggie is represented by a string of respected galleries and more of her work can be seen on her website
